Pools fail in specific places: a pump that will not prime, a heater that stops holding temperature, a leak that shows up as a falling water line, plumbing that was never run well, automation that no longer talks to the equipment. Reef Pools and Spas repairs those systems on pools that already exist.

Losing water is not the same as leaking

A Texas summer evaporates a real amount of water — an open pool in full sun, with a spa or a waterfall running, can drop a noticeable fraction of an inch on a hot, dry, breezy day, and more than one homeowner has chased a leak that turned out to be weather. The bucket test separates the two for the price of a bucket: stand it on a step so it is weighted and does not move, fill it with pool water to about the pool's level, mark the water inside and the pool outside, and compare the two drops after a day or two with the pump running as normal. If both fall equally it is evaporation. If the pool falls faster, there is somewhere to look — and knowing which before anyone opens a deck is worth the two days it takes.

Do not drain it to find out

The instinct when something is wrong is to empty the pool and look. On the Gulf Coast that is the most expensive mistake available. Groundwater around Montgomery County sits high after a wet stretch, and an empty shell has nothing inside it to resist the pressure underneath — which is how a structurally sound pool ends up lifted, cracked, and past repairing. The hydrostatic relief valve in the floor exists for exactly this, and it only helps if it is working and if the timing is right. Almost every diagnosis worth doing, including most leak detection, is done with the pool full.

Freeze damage has a pattern worth recognising

After a hard freeze the failures cluster in the same places: the pump housing, the filter body, the heater, exposed above-grade plumbing, and anything raised — a spa, a waterfall, a bubbler. The damage often does not announce itself on the cold night; it shows up as a leak or a dead pump the first time the system runs afterwards. Anyone assessing a pool after a freeze should be looking at the whole pad and every run above the waterline rather than at the one component that stopped working, because a cracked fitting still holding at low pressure will not keep holding.

Sometimes the honest answer is that repairing it is the wrong move

Not everything should be fixed. A shell with structural cracking that has already been patched once, plumbing repaired in three places under a deck, or equipment where every component is at the end of its own service life is a pool where the next repair buys a season and the one after that costs more than the last. This site says so on the repair page because it is true, and it is worth saying twice: a repair estimate is only useful next to an honest read of what is left. Knowing which of those two conversations you are actually in is the first thing to establish.

Do you offer weekly or monthly pool cleaning?

No. Reef Pools and Spas builds, remodels, and repairs pools, and does not run a routine cleaning or chemical service. A local pool service company is the right call for recurring maintenance.

Will you repair a pool another company built?

Yes. Repair work is not limited to Reef Pools and Spas builds. Availability depends on location, the condition of the pool, and the current schedule.

Can a repair be quoted over the phone?

A symptom can be discussed over the phone, but the cause is often somewhere other than where it shows. Repairs are scoped and quoted after the pool and its equipment have been looked at.

When is a repair the wrong answer?

When the cost of repeated repairs approaches the cost of renovating properly. If that is where a pool has arrived, the honest recommendation is a remodel rather than another patch.
